The Linden Eagles traveled to the University of Michigan night to take on Division 2 rival Mason. This dual took place at Cliff Keen Arena where U of M was taking on Central Michigan University later that night. Linden had a stellar performance as they out powered and out wrestled Mason 39-19. The Linden wrestling team opened conference matches against Flushing and Brandon. In the first match Linden defeated Flushing 61-14 and in the nightcap Linden got revenge on Brandon by defeating them 38-29. Going 2-0 on the night were: Justin Cygnar, Dawson Blank, Bryce Davis, Cade Dickson, Stojan Prusac, and Jaylin Steedman. Aaron Steedman went 1-0. Congratulations to the Linden Wrestling team as they won both of their dual meets last night defeating host Carelton Airport 55-11 and New Boston Huron 36-29. The Linden wrestling team continued it's winning ways by dismantling cross-town rival Fenton for the 8th year in a row. Linden won a decisive victory 57-21. The Linden wrestling team wrestled in Clio last night to take on co-front runners Clio and rival Holly. In the first dual, Linden upended Holly 45-33. It was a good dual and the first time the Eagles have defeated powerhouse Holly in 7 years. In the next dual, Linden was nipped by Clio 43-36. With several starters out of the line-up the Eagles kept it competitive and that dual was decided by the last match. Linden is 4-2 on the Metro and still sits in 2nd place in the Metro. The Linden wrestling team finished 2-3 at the chelsea Duals this weekend. The Eagles defeated Northville and Farmington and took losses to Chelsea, Novi, and Riverview. Luke Zimmerman, Patrick Kerr and Austin McNeill all finished 5-0 on the day. Jaylin Steedman and Cade Dickson went 4-1. Linden improved to 16-0 on the season.

Congratulations to the Linden wrestling team. Last night the Eagles opened with power 15 state ranked Westland John Glenn. The Eagles battled, but fell 30-37 in a very exciting dual meet. In the nightcap, the Eagles bested Carlton Airport 48-24 in a much needed win. Winning two matches on the night were: Captains Austin McNeill and Patrick Kerr, Dallas Blank, Luke Zimmerman, and freshman Avery Jacobs. Going 1-1 on the night were: Justin Cygnar, Koleton Strauss, Jacob Coburn, Cade Dickson, Aaron Steedman, and Skyler Stites. The junior varsity also had a strong showing: winning two matches on the night was Jalyn Matney. Stojan Prusac and Noah Vermeesch also won matches. The Linden Eagles dual season came to a close Thursday evening as the Eagles lost to #10 state ranked Goodrich 22-45. Although the Eagles battled, there was not enough experience in the line-up to hang w/ Goodrich. The Eagles started 6 freshman in the last dual meet and only 4 seniors. Winning for the Eagles were: Luke Zimmerman, Zach Shaw, Patrick Kerr, Austin McNeil, and Nick Sioui. The Eagles finished w/ a winning record of 18-15. We are very proud of the season these young men have had and are looking forward to the post-season for the individual wrestlers.
The Linden wrestling team split in their last Metro matches of the season. Linden lost to cross-town rival Holly 42-25. In the night match Linden dominated rival Fenton 51-21. Winning two matches on the night for the Eagles were: Zach Shaw, Patrick Kerr, Austin McNeil, and Nick Sioui. Going 1-1 on the night were: Luke Zimmerman, Dawson Blank, Brandon Brennan, Dylan Musall, and Charlie Gergel. All of the seniors won their matches against Fenton and never lost a dual meet to Fenton in four years of wrestling. The Eagles will compete at Brandon for the conference tournament.
The Linden wrestling team hosted their first conference dual meet of the season celebrating senior night and split their duals. In the first dual the Eagles knocked off Lapeer East 57-17. After the dual the seniors were celebrated for sticking with the program. Zach Shaw, Dylan Musall, Eli Foguth, Nick Sioui, Ruben Bailey, and Charley Gergel have helped Linden to a winning record over 4 seasons. In the final match the Eagles lost to state ranked Clio 30-48. Swartz Creek Invite
The Linden wrestling team finished 2-3 at the Swartz Creek Duals this weekend. The Eagles were undermanned voiding 3 weight classes due to resting wrestlers for conference play. First round the Eagles lost to Montrose 34-37, second round the Eagles defeated Walled Lake Western by a score of 42-27, 3rd round we lost to Dewitt 15-58, 4th round we lost to Corunna 33-45 and in the final round we avenged an early loss to Swartz Creek and knocked them off 38-37. This was a big win for us as we were without 3 weight classes all day and still found a way to beat Swartz Creek. Austin McNeil lead all wrestlers going 5-0 on the day. Skyler Stites went 3-0, and Zach Shaw went 4-1.
Last night the Linden Eagles wrestling team took on Flint Kearsley and #5 ranked Ortonville Brandon. The first match the Eagles dismantled a depleted Flint Kearsley squad by a score of 61-6. In the second Metro match the Eagles lost to Brandon by a score of 18-57. Winning two matches on the evening for the Eagles were: Nick Sioui, Austin McNeil and Zach Shaw. Eagles Split Metro Opening Duals
The Linden Wrestling team improved to 13-8 night. The Eagles defeated Lapeer West for the first time in 3 years by a score of 51-30. In the second dual meet the Eagles lost a very close match to Swartz Creek 40-36. The Eagles were without Dawson Blank and senior Eli Foguth. This was the deciding factor in the dual meet, we just didn't have enough firepower and lost a tight one. Hopefully soon we will get back to full strength and have another shot at them next weekend at the Swartz Creek Duals. Winning 2 matches on the night were: Luke Zimmerman, Zach Shaw, Patrick Kerr, Aaron Steedman, Austin McNeil, and Nick Sioui. Dawson Blank went 1-0 on the night. The Eagles will be off this weekend and the J.V. will be at Holly for the Holly J.V. tournament.
The Linden wrestling team was in action at the Adrian Duals. Although the e\Eagles fell short of their goal to win the tournament and ended up with a 2-3 record, they were able to knock off the tournament champions Salem (out of Canton) who won the tournament going 4-1 with their only loss to Linden by a score of 43-36. The Eagles defeated host Adrian 54-23 and Salem and lost a close one to Farmington 36-41, Chippewa Valley 33-41, and Jackson 39-41. Individually it was a great day as we had 5 wrestlers go undefeated: 103 Luke Zimmerman, 119 Dawson Blank, 125 Zack Shaw, 135 Patrick Kerr, and 215/Hwt. Austin McNeil. Going 3-2 on the day were Aaron Steedman at 160, and Dylan Musall 130. The Eagles record is at 12-7 overall and opens conference play this week with Swartz Creek on Wed. night with weather permitting.
The Linden wrestling team had a very busy week before the holiday break. On Wed. night the Eagles traveled to Lapeer West to take on St. Clair and Anchor Bay. In the opening match the Eagles defeated St. Clair 40-34. The dual was tied coming into our last match w/ senior Zach Shaw yet to wrestle. Zach went out and took care of business by pinning his opponent in the 1st period giving Linden the win. In the second dual, the Eagles met a gritty Division 1 Anchor Bay. This was a good dual but the Eagles fell 47-27. We battled in the dual but we were just outmanned. Anchor Bay has a very good squad with a lot of experienced wrestlers that are ranked. I was pleased that we wrestled tough. Linden's overall record heading into the break is 10-4.
Friday the Eagles hosted the 3rd Annual J.V. tournament. This was a good opportunity to get a lot of our inexperienced wrestlers mat time. The lone champion for the Eagles was Aaron Steedman going 4-0. Freshman Jacob Coburn went 2-2.
Saturday the Eagles took only 8 wrestlers to the county meet. We had several starters out of the line-up due to vacations, injuries, etc... but the 8 boys we took got to see good competition that they won't see the rest of the year. Leading the way for the Eagles were sophomore Luke Zimmerman (3rd place) and Junior Austin McNeil (4th Place). Luke and Austin looked very good today and battled. Placing 6th were senior Dylan Musall and freshman Patrick Kerr. The Eagles are off for the next two weeks to get healthy and relax a bit. We will be in action again on Jan. 4th at the Adrian Duals, then when we return to school we will open conference play.
After a hard week of practice and a tough loss to Westland John Glenn on Wed. night the Linden Eagles bounced back and went undefeated on Saturday at the Dansville Duals. The eagles defeated Pinckney 47-22, Perry 45-36, Dansvillle 48-27, Maple Valley 65-18, and Gross Pointe South 63-14 to go 5-0. The team was led by seniors Dylan Musall 5-0 and Nick Sioui 4-0, junior Austin McNeil went 5-0, Sophomore Luke Zimmerman 5-0, and freshman Patrick Kerr 5-0. Sr. Zach Shaw and freshman Dawson Blank and Aaron Steedman went 4-1. The Linden wrestling team improved to 9-3 on the season, they will wrestleon Wed. night at Lapeer West where they will take on St. Clair and Anchor Bay.
Battle Creek Central Tourney
The Linden wrestling team finished 6th out of 14 teams at the B.C.C. Invitational on Saturday. This was a strong showing for a team that only took 11 wrestlers to compete. Of the 11 wrestlers that competed, 5 placed in the top 8. The Eagles had 4 wrestlers in the finals: Zach Shaw, Austin Golden, Austin McNeil, and Cliff Coleman. Zach Shaw pinned his way through the tournament at 119. Austin Golden went in as the #3 seed and upset the #2 seed and #1 seed in the finals (state ranked opponent from Bronson). Austin McNeil and Cliff Coleman finished 2nd. Dylan Musall went 3-2 finishing 7th.

The Linden Wrestling team had their conference opener last night at Lapeer West. In the first match the eagles wrestled Lapeer West. This was a great dual meet that came down to the 2nd to last match. The eagles lost 36-32 in a nail biter, however Austin McNeil came up with a big win as avenged a loss from earlier in the season to defeat the Genesee County Champion from Lapeer. Unfortunately Linden had several starters out of the line-up on this night, but the team wrestled hard and kept it tight. In the final match, Linden took on a young scrappy Swartz Creek squad. The eagles came up with a big win, defeating the dragons 45-36. Not only was this a big win but it was a very emotional win as Coach Skinner got his 300th career win. Winning two matches on the night were: Luke Zimmerman, Zach Shaw, Austin Golden, Austin McNeil, and Cliff Coleman. Going 1-1 on the night were: Karrah Varner, Dylan Musall, Tanner Shuck, and Aaron Kersten. Nick Sioui went 1-0. The Linden Wrestling team finished 2-3 at the Adrian Duals tournament on Saturday. The Eagles defeated Adrian 57-22 and Jackson Columbia Central 44-29. They lost to Jackson Northwest 46-24, Milford 46-26, and Jackson 63-18. Luke Zimmerman and Cliff Coleman finished 4-1 for the eagles. Austin McNeil, Dylan Musall, Karrah Varner, and Ruben Bailey went 3-2 for the Eagles. The Eagles are currently 6-8 overall on the season.
The Linden wrestling team wrestled in the Genesee County Tournament on Saturday at Davison High School. The Eagles had 6 starters out of the line-up on this day due to injuries and illness, however several wrestlers managed to come away with wins. Cliff Coleman went 3-1 on the day finishing 5th while Luke Zimmerman went 3-2 finishing 6th. Zack Shaw and Dylan Musall each went 4-1 while Austin McNeil went 2-2. The Eagles will be in action on Friday as they take on Owosso in the assembly dual on Friday.
Linden Christmas Invite
The varsity wrestling team hosted eight teams at the 2012 Linden Christmas Invitational on Saturday and finished with a 3-3 record on the day. In pool play the Eagles lost a close match to Flushing 36-39; beat Holt 66-18; lost 27-36 to Orchard Lake St. Mary's; and beat Webberville 66-18. In the cross-over match, the Eagles lost to Gaylord 18-63. Seniors Cliff Coleman and Zach Shaw each went 5-0 to earn an undefeated medal for the day. The Eagles will host a quad meet on Wednesday at 5:00--come out and support your Eagles!
The Linden wrestling team split their duals on Wednesday night. In the first match, the Eagles defeated host Milan 48-24. This was a very even match until the upper weights and 103 lb. weight class took control and reeled off 4 straight wins, 3 of which were pins. In the nightcap, the Eagles were outmatched by a very tough Manchester team. This was a tough loss as the Eagles could not get anything going and were outmatched, the final score 64-12. The only double winner on the night was heavyweight Cliff Coleman, while the only other winner was Zach Shaw. On a side note, Congratulations to Cliff as he won his 100th career high school victory. Splitting on the night for the Eagles were: Luke Zimmerman, Austin Golden, Eli Foguth, Aaron Kersten, and Austin McNeil.
